QOTD 22/5/2010

Id the person in the picture. What unique feat did he achieve recently? (2 Points)

[Clue: Think Books] [Click to enlarge image]

Ans. James Gordon Farrell

He was awarded the 2010 Lost Man Booker for his book ' Troubles' (1970), by a public vote, 30 years after his death

The funda is that there was a rule change in 1970 which caused the book to be disqualified from competing for the Booker in that year. Books published in 1970 were not eligible for the Man Booker Prize due to a rules alteration: until 1970 the prize was awarded to books published in the previous year, while from 1971 onwards it was awarded to books published the same year as the award. Unlucky man!!
